She is a coal-miner's daughter
Born the same year as my husband
In the same State as President Lincoln
This octogenarian is a living-legend
Last Sunday September fifteenth
We joined her loyal followers
At the 'Hard Rock Live' concert
To see the first lady of Butcher Holler
It was a night to remember
When her daughter Peggy Lynn
Introduced herself to the audience
And told us that she is a twin
But when the star from Kentucky
Came on stage to a standing ovation
And sang with the ease of a teenager
Her fans erupted with shouts of adulation
On April fourteenth twenty-twenty
Her age matched the piano keys
Wishing Loretta many more birthdays
Because I think she is the bees knees.

"Country music is one of the most sophisticated strains of music we have in America... Its a kinda mimimal music where there is a great emphasis in the voice on the experience in the voice, and I love to hear the stories told in country music... Its just the refinement of very complex situations into very cogent and heart-touching phrases, the technical considerations of country music are very demanding...the hearts and minds that produce are very sophisticated..." - Leonard Cohen [1934-2016] in the 1988 interview with Charlie Rose]
